In memory of Justin Townsend

Firefighter Justin Townsend was the first LODD death in the history of the Dagsboro Fire Department. Although he passed prior to the dedication of the new station in 2013, he is honored in the building and on the vehicles of the fire department and remains in the hearts of so many in our community.

On September 27, 2012, Firefighter Townsend was killed in a traffic crash while responding to a fire alarm late in the afternoon. As a tribute, his gear remains in the firehouse in his honor.

His favorite vehicle was the 2010 Sutphen, which has been dedicated in his memory.

You can find his memorial on firehero.org

Justin Townsend isn't remembered just at the Dagsboro fire department. Last month I snapped a picture of this tribute on the 1991 Pierce Engine at the neighboring Frankford Volunteer Fire Company. Clearly, his spirit remains with us.
