"Altered Art at the Frankford Fire Department" (part one)

A few days ago I was excited to receive a message from someone at one of our local fire departments. He'd seen a photo I took of the outside of their building and wanted to use it in an upcoming publication. As a new artist (actually, an old one who is just getting beginning to branch out to organizations such as local fire companies), I was super giddy over being contacted. And when I asked if I could come over and take pictures of the trucks and entire department he said yes.

So Saturday at 10am I was standing outside a stately brick building in southern Delaware. It's a volunteer fire company yes, but also so much more than that; it's history, and tradition, and people serving their community. After getting a tour of the building and vehicles I finally had what I feel like I need to get some good material....peace and quiet. I took several hundred pictures between the trucks, ambulances and various types of equipment, images that I'm still editing today due to the large quantity. This post includes the 2003 Chevy truck, 1968 Cadillac ambulance and the 1956 GMC.

The first one I posted was this truck and as I go through each vehicle I'm going to list the website page you can check out for more info. http://frankfordfire.com/apparatus.cfm?a=10

The next vehicle was the stunning 1968 Cadillac Ambulance which sits in the front lobby of the firehouse. It was gorgeous and while I got a few nice shots I need to return in the afternoon when the sun isn't shining directly through the windows. This unit was the oldest certified ambulance in the State of Delaware, until it was placed out of service by the department in 1999 but it continues to make appearance in local area parades. http://frankfordfire.com/apparatus.cfm?a=7

The third vehicle in this segment is the 1956 GMC
